Large curly maple coffee table with red oak stump base
Standing about 24 inches tall this beautiful hard curly maple table is mounted to a red Oak stump that has been dried and soaked in epoxy resin for durability. The live edge top is mounted on by a quarter inch thick steel plate with four 1/4”-20 bolts and the top is secured with steel angle iron supports recessed into the bottom. The top is finished with all natural hardwood floor finisher to show off the woods shiny curl and is ceramic coated for protection. Being that it is quite heavy it requires a certain type of space to live in that has durable floors and won’t be disturbed by heavy amounts of weight being set on either end at one time. It is very durable and balanced very well in and around the center although gravity does take affect when the decorative limits of this table are taken advantage of. (Meaning it may tip over if you put too much weight on one end…)
All in all as a maker I truly love this table. I hand selected the maple slab from a large selection of Pennsylvania sourced trees and it was kiln dried then air dried for two years. The red oak stump I had picked from the ground in 2020 in Centre County Pennsylvania. I pressure washed it and let it sit in a dry pest free environment for two years before sealing it with epoxy resin. There are metal thread inserts in the roots of the stump to hold the top on and the base of the stump is secured with a 2 inch thick poured epoxy plate.
I would love to see this piece end up in a home or lodge but can fit the most modern setting in today’s world. Being that it is truly a handmade piece of art it has the ability to brighten up any mood in any setting.
Item will be professionally packaged and shipped. Typically takes 1-2 weeks. Total weight is estimated at 200lbs
